Who Are You? I’m not asking about the usual generic responses such as “I’m a Child of God or I’m a God-fearing woman or being a mom, wife, sister, bestie, mistress, employer, cousin, etc” Who Are You? I can be described in many ways by several and then the same people. I’m comical, straight forward, honest, generous, a HOT mess, blunt, scary, cool, amazing, childish, afraid, thoughtful, rude, mean. I’m lots more BUT at the end of the day ... I’ll always be 2 of 2 … AUTHENTICALLY ME & A WORK IN PROGRESS! Again … Who Are You? Being authentically you isn’t just a few descriptive words. It’s also about a title that you may possess and/or your status to the world – wife, daughter, employer, mom, divorcee, widow, entrepreneur, leader, etc. A lot of times we allow those titles to take ownership of our lives. We become busy and overwhelmed and then we lose focus on who we are. Having the status and title are GREAT, darn near electrifying at times BUT that’s NOT ALL of who you are – and what you need. Ever been so busy you forgot or chose not to eat? What about taking care of yourself? Self-care and/or self-love? When was the last time you did something or spoiled yourself and it wasn’t a holiday, and your birthday doesn’t count because that’s a holiday too! Self-care is essential for your soul, growth and overall health. Self-care is more than the occasional manicure, pedicure and/or lash appointment. Self-care is how we can stay motivated and our energy high. Breathing techniques, spa days, a day or weekend getaway, a day of rest, catching up on a book, show, movie or dinner with friends. That is self-care. What holds you back from being you? Is it the perception that others hold of you? That’s a lot of pressure. At the end of day … BE AUTHENTICALLY YOU – being true to yourself, your values, and your spirit. It also means being honest with yourself and others and taking responsibility for your actions.
