![]() For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fairly uncomfortable in social situations. As an anxious overthinker, people pleasing has always been a priority. Women intimidate me and I tend to have more guy friends than girlfriends. People came to ME for advice and loyalty. But internally, I’m a lone wolf. I joined A Motivating Love after a coworker, Lisa, introduced me to Daphne. I observed for a while, taking it all in and reading the room.

![]() Although COVID-19 has brought a multitude of hardships into individual and collective experiences there has been an opportunity for growth. Many social justice movements have made their impact through social media information, protests, petitions, donations, and more. This time has given all of us the opportunity to grow as activists and allies. Activism connects passionate people to impactful causes and movements in our local communities and around the world. The power behind activism is ![]() To say thank you for the support over the last year … or last four years doesn’t seem to be enough. Each year we have a new theme that we cultivate, embrace and add it into the next. We began with ensuring that we knew we were worth it and had self-confidence. That developed into our self-love and we began to heal from past hurts and situations. Last year we supported many as we are now embarking into a new era – GROWTH! Our new year of Growth represents ... Thankfully May has arrived. I thought that the year of April would never end. As everyone is beginning to slowly come out of hibernation, how are we as women adapting to the changes in our lives?
I read in my social media posts of mom's really enjoying teaching their children at home while others have a As May arrives so does the new way of life. We are still sheltering at home for at least part of May and hopefully have learned something new about ourselves and families. For me, I have realized ...
Never in a million years did I expect to be experiencing a Shelter at home lifestyle. In such a short period of time our lives as mothers and working women (and fathers and men) have changed significantly.
What we once knew as "normal" will never be the same again. The new "normal" is yet to come. With this being said, now is the time, we need to pull together to support each other more than ever. Even though we cannot gather together physically, we can all support each other in other ways. Take a few moments out of I love what I do with my business and organization but I am also human. Sometimes walking thru life with others, I take on too much and/or I neglected my self care practices. The hashtag I use of #YouAreNotAlone means just that ... You Are NOT Alone! If I've not felt it, gone thru it or walked with another woman who has, I have someone on my team and in my life that has. My face of #depression isn't always sad because I am tired of crying. Wow … a new year for A Motivating Love began in July with a bang!
We have been busy meeting new sponsors, working with businesses on fundraiser nights and organizations that we will give back to over the next year. We met with Janet Bernstein, who is the founder of the Every Heart Project. What a phenomenal woman. Janet is our speaker for our Always Mothers Luncheon on May 2, 2020. I cannot wait for her presentation. Janet also shared her new book with us "The New Rules of the Sisterhood". I highly recommend it. It makes one stop, think about your own friends and the relationships you have with them. It is great. I finished mine in a week. We visited over the summer with Lance and Hannah with StreetSide Showers. What a caring group. |
